First of all, let me make this clear. I’ve used my fair share of LLM for coding purposes.
But I have stopped using them for that purpose from the past couple of months, and now only exclusively use them for literary purpose (c’mon dawg, I just want to know if this sentence has the correct grammar), altho I will mention that i’m still staying tru to that banner at the bottom of the page and no AI was involved in making of this blog, not even proof-reading, all of this slop is from my own eleven brain cells. I’m not a “Puriest” either nor do believe that AIs/LLMs are spawns of Satan and need to purged to the bottom pits of hell.
But I’ve been seeing people just fully offload their entire coding process to LaLaMosllm, and that just breaks my heart.
Cause for me, Just banging my head against my laptop trying to make sth work, altho frustrating at times, is what’s the most fun about this hobby/profession.
One of friend and his team are shipping a SaaS, i went to this dorm today
I was kinda proud of him that they are making an actually product which they diligently worked on for the past month or so but turns out all of it is AI slopnote 😭
I literally saw that man copy code from v0, paste into vscode, commit everything, asked copilot to write the commit message(???), push the changes, saw vercel build fail ,go back to commit log (on github webui), get the hash of the last working commit, reset the git tree hard at that commit then deploy again
And this just tanked whatever respect I had for him.
In the end of the day, Everyone has free will. They are free to do whatever they want. Who am I to judge?
But It hurts so much to see this state of the field which is so dear to my heart 💔
